With the rise of companies like Amazon and delivery services like Grubhub, we Americans are growing accustomed to having things delivered to our doorsteps. Greenlight Dispensary in Helena-West Helena is planning to deliver medical cannabis products to those in need starting this week.
While this might come as a surprise for some, regulations were passed back in 2017 that paved the way for medical marijuana to be delivered directly to a patient’s personal residence. The idea is this: there are patients in desperate need of the therapeutic benefits of cannabis who are unable to make it to the dispensary themselves. Debilitating pain and disability that prohibits travel are two of the reasons why patients with a medical marijuana card might find it difficult to go to a dispensary.
And even for patients who are able to go to the dispensary, there are some who would rather use cannabis products privately. A delivery option allows them to seek treatment while maintaining their anonymity.
Currently there are only 6 medical marijuana dispensaries open in Arkansas. While patients wait for dispensaries to open near their homes, many are unable to access treatment.
Greenlight Dispensary hopes to help by delivering cannabis products as far as is feasible, although they do not yet know exactly what their delivery radius will be. Holly Stuart, the manager of Greenlight, reported to News Channel 3 that they are hoping to deliver to other cities in eastern Arkansas that are still waiting for their dispensaries to open, such as Jonesboro and West Memphis.
When we contacted Greenlight Dispensary today, they were still unsure of the date that deliveries would start or how far out they will deliver. If you are interested in delivery, they will take down your name and contact information and reach out to you once they are ready to begin delivery.
Back in 2017, certain rules were outlined by the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Board regarding medical cannabis delivery. They hold that:
Deliveries must be made between 9 A.M. and 7 P.M.
The medical marijuana cardholder must sign for their delivery and have their medical marijuana card available for confirmation.
Deliveries will only be made to an Arkansas residence, not to places like a hotel or commercial business.
And if you don’t have your medical marijuana card? Greenlight Dispensary is planning to deliver CBD products to people in their service radius, whatever that will be.
Will Other Dispensaries in Arkansas Deliver?
If you are hoping to have medical cannabis delivered to your door in Arkansas but find out that you are outside of Greenlight Dispensary’s delivery radius, it is probably just a matter of time before you have a dispensary that can deliver to your door. We will provide updates as more options become available.
If you are an Arkansan suffering from one of these 18 medical conditions you may be eligible to treat your ailment with medical marijuana, which includes both THC and CBD products.
